COMMUNITY & WORKFORCE INNOVATION

MBE, WBE, EEO, City Residency, Community Hiring and Engagement

Our ultimate objective is to establish an inclusive workforce program that prioritizes uplifting the community, removing employment barriers, providing opportunities for skill development, and ensuring equitable participation to foster economic growth within the local community.

The Kells Park Fieldhouse project will have a significant economic impact on the City and its surrounding communities. To enhance these effects, we are committed to ensuring collaboration between contractors and community groups to maximize local job opportunities. Our relationships with local trade partners provide the benefit of creating economic opportunities for City residents and securing the best market prices

Here is how we will enhance MBE, WBE, EEO, City Residency, Community Hiring and Engagement on the Kells Park Fieldhouse Project:

For the Kells Park Fieldhouse project we will aim to ensure that we engage the Project’s community and stakeholders organically. We will inform the constituents about the project and use this as an opportunity to foster a deeper connection and impact. Our team prides itself on collaborating with the community more than most contractors and designers in the City, as it is inherent to our regular operations. With that said, we anticipate three types of outreach with different goals for the Kells Park Fieldhouse project:

DESIGN OUTREACH

The goal is to create a sense of ownership with local end users.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OUTREACH

The goal is to provide professional development education and create interest and ownership for local school aged children.

CONSTRUCTION PROCUREMENT OUTREACH

The goal is to create interest and engage local contractor participation.

DESIGN OUTREACH

One to two (1-2) events - Design outreach meetings to solicit input from the community and potential end users on what the building might look like

CONSTRUCTION PROCUREMENT OUTREACH

Two to three (2-3) events - Procurement outreach to create interest in the Project and obtain local contractor participation based on the issuance of three (3) bid packages

COMMUNITY SERVICE OUTREACH

Two (2) events – Professional development outreach to discuss project updates. This will be our opportunity to share high-level details about the project and the project team, engaging the community on what is to come. This will include area youth engagement in conjunction with the PBC, CPD and CPS if applicable, to implement a student workforce development program in targeted areas. Our plan will be an extension of our workforce development plan and include:

• Formal Apprenticeship and Journeyman Programs: Trade partners will implement structured apprenticeship and journeyman programs to cultivate skilled labor from within the community.

• Training and Mentorship Programs: We will develop training programs for high school and college students, including mentorship and retention initiatives, to support their growth and long-term careers in the industry.

• Hiring from Under-served Areas: We will target hiring from local-area high schools in under-served regions, ensuring that local youth have equitable access to job opportunities.

• Classroom Exploration and Training: We will lead elementary and middle school students in classroom activities focused on STEM, inspiring students to further explore careers in engineering and construction
